Dili Hash is not just beer and skittles.  It regularly does good work in the local community through regular fund-raising events about town, on top of upfront donations.   And yes, our GM received a gong in 2012, receiving the Order of Australia in the Australia Day honours list "For service to the international community through humanitarian roles".  Although it didn't say it, it is understood by all that by keeping wayward hashers under control each week, he is indeed providing a service to the community.

Annual Red Dress Run

Since 2004, Dili Hash has held the Annual Red Dress Run, an event held by hash groups around the world, originally to provide funds for cancer research.  Dili Hash raises funds for the local Dili chapter of Cruz Vermelha (AKA Red Cross) and donates over $1000 annually.  In 2012, over $1600 was  donated to Cruz Vermelha.  And in 2013 and 2014, over $2700 for an afternoon's work (in a red dress) !  But 2015 topped it again with over $3000.

First Lady Cup

Since about 2004, Dili Hashers have helped out with organising the event and providing food for the post-run festivities.  Originally, a non-hash event organised by Daisy and Mudflap with 5k and 10km events which pre-date the Dili Marathon.

Annual Orphans Christmas Party

Hash assists Rotary in running the annual orphans Christmas Party held in the grounds of the World Bank/ADB.  Hash organise distribution of presents, organise a Santa for the day, organise games and provide food (and cook it) for the hundreds of children present.  Daisy is the main man for this event.  In 2013, over 900 children received gifts, were fed and had some fun at this terrific event.  This is an ongoing commitment where training in sack racing is an essential pre-requisite.

Lolotoe Community in Covalima

For a few years, Dili Hashers Happy Ending, Aer Lingus and IdaDown have been privately involved in supporting the Lolotoe Community in Covalima.  Dili Hash has helped out annually with a weekend trip and donations of food and money.

Orphanages

Over a number of years, Dili Hash has provided food and cash donations to the Hope Orphanage in Gleno, the Maubara Orphanage and the Topu Honis Orphanage in Oecussi.

Other

Dili Hash often organises groups to attend fund raising events around town, anything from Quiz Night raising funds for the Bairo Pite Clinic to the Rock Quiz (organised by Full Press Body and others) to special one-off fund raising for the Victorial Bushfires in Australia and Japanese Earthquake Appeal.  And who could forget Movember, the annual "no shaving month" initially organised locally by Barrrred Up, who sportingly offered his body for a full wax in the interests of cash donations - it was worth it just to watch him grimace in pain !!!
